On a crisp, frosty November morning, I made my way up towards Plean, Stirling to Plane Castle. For the day, I had been given the fantastic opportunity to shadow one of the best wedding photographers in Scotland, Nadin Dunnigan.
I was extremely lucky to first meet Nadin back in 2012 when she was doing a talk about her photography. Since then, Nadin has become a mentor and friend who has been very supportive in my photographic career. Although I have photographed weddings previously, it was excellent opportunity to learn more from an excellent photographer. You can never learn too much when it comes to photography!
The castle was down a single track road. Surrounded by beautiful fields, away from all the hustle and bustle of the busy towns. It was a beautiful venue for the lovely couple, Mhari and Matthew to get married in. The castle was the original building with lots of little passage ways and character. Both the bride and groom were getting ready in the castle. At first I did wonder who this would go without them seeing each other. However, with the many different passages they did not ever have a chance to bump into each other prior to the ceremony.
Throughout the day we photographed the bridal preparation, ceremony, group photographs, Romantic photo’s and speeches. It was interesting to see how Nadin and her assistant Mo work together to create the images. Nadin gave me plenty tips and tricks along the way as well in what she does to achieve the best images.
The cold late autumn weather did not stop beautiful memories being created, on their wedding day.
The romantic photo’s of Mhari and Matthew after the ceremony, were taken in the gardens at the castle. Although the temperature remained freezing all day long, it didn’t stop Mhari from wanting to pose in her beautiful dress. With the wedding being in winter, some of the trees were bare, however, this did not stop some beautiful wedding photographs being created.
The speeches and meal were lit by candles and fairy lights, adding more romance to the day. The meal consisted of a wonderful Hogg Roast. This had been cooking outside on the spit all day while the ceremony and celebrations took place.
This was truly a wonderful opportunity to learn more from Nadin. Along with the chance to photograph in such a beautiful venue too.
I wish you both many years of Happiness Matthew and Mhari xx
